Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about how the calculator handles Armenian import duties, VAT, and profit.

Which products does this calculator cover?
It uses the general 5% import duty and 20% VAT defaults. For HS codes with different rates (alcohol, tobacco, vehicles, certain foods, EAEU origin goods, etc.) adjust the customs duty input. Always verify your HS code with a customs broker.
Is customs duty calculated on CIF or just on the product value?
On CIF — the product value plus international transport to the Armenian border. This matches EAEU Customs Code Article 39 and the Republic of Armenia Customs Law Article 7. The calculator follows this rule.
Why is VAT shown as a 'credit'?
VAT-registered businesses in Armenia can offset VAT paid at the border against VAT collected from clients. You only pay the difference to the State Revenue Committee.
How is profit tax computed?
Profit tax is 18% of the gross margin per unit (markup + labor), summed across the lot. The calculator floors profit tax at zero on negative-margin lines.
Are my numbers private?
Yes. Inputs stay in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. If you click Save, data is stored only in this browser's localStorage.
Can I use this for actual customs declarations?
No. This is an estimation tool for planning. File official declarations through a licensed customs broker or directly with the State Revenue Committee.
